ABSTRACT

After the COVID-19 pandemic, cyberattacks are increasing as non-face-to-face environments such as telecommuting and telemedicine proliferate. Cyberattackers exploit vulnerabilities in remote systems and endpoint devices in major enterprises and infrastructures. To counter these attacks, fast detection and response are essential because advanced persistent threat (APT) attacks intelligently infiltrate endpoint devices for long periods and spread to large-scale environments. However, because conventional security systems are signature-based, fast detection of APT attacks is challenging, and it is difficult to respond flexibly to the environment. In this study, we propose an APT fast detection and response technique using open-source tools that improves the efficiency of existing endpoint information protection systems and swiftly detects the APT attack process. Performance test results based on realistic scenarios using the open-source APT attack library and MITER ATT&CK indicated that fast detection was possible with higher accuracy for the early stages of APT attacks in scenarios where endpoint attack detectors are interworking environments. © 2022 The Authors

ABSTRACT

An innovative sonication method has been developed to produce inclusion complexes (ICs) of Oseltamivir (OTV) which is a potentially water-soluble anti-viral agent with lesser cytotoxicity. Proton signals and chemical shifts of OTV without any ambiguity confirm the formation of ICs with β-Cyclodextrin (B-CD) and Hydroxypropyl-β-cyclodextrin (H-CD). ICs are also supported by their atomic percentages as secondary evidence using XPS analysis. Analysis of drug release at three pH levels revealed the slow release of the OTV from ICs and also suitable for viral inactivation. A very less cytotoxic ability on cancer cell lines and enhanced the viral inactivation of OTV after being made into water-soluble ICs. © 2022 Elsevier B.V.

ABSTRACT

Strategies and actions for mitigating the emissions of greenhouse gas (GHG) and air pollutants in the transportation sector are becoming more important and urgent due to concerns related to public health and climate change. As a result, the Taiwanese government has promulgated a number of regulatory measures and promotion plans (or programs) on bioethanol use, novel fermentation research projects and domestic production since the mid-2000s. The main aim of this paper was to present a trend analysis of the motor gasoline supply/consumption and bioethanol supply, and the regulatory system relevant to bioethanol production and gasohol use since 2007 based on the official database and the statistics. The motor gasoline supply has shown a decreasing trend in the last five years (2016–2020), especially in 2020, corresponding to the impact of the COVID-19 outbreak in 2020. Although the government provided a subsidy of NT$ 1.0–2.0 dollars per liter for refueling E3 gasohol based on the price of 95-unleaded gasoline, the bioethanol supply has shown decreasing demand since 2012. In addition, the plans for domestic bioethanol production from lignocellulosic residues or energy crops were ceased in 2011 due to non-profitability. To examine the obstacles to bioethanol promotion in Taiwan, the bottlenecks to bioethanol production and gasohol use were addressed from the perspectives of the producer (domestic enterprise), the seller (gas station) and the consumer (end user). © 2021 by the authors.
